Here is a scan of an article by Charles E. Lee that appeared in The Railway Magazine, dated August 1952. At two shillings and sixpence back then the magazine must have been a substantial purchase. I like it that our little piece of transport history appeared in a mag with two of the Southern Railway’s finest on the cover. I don’t know what the copyright situation is (probably dodgy, and of course I will remove the article if anyone relevant complains) but obviously I’m not gaining financially for putting this up for the benefit of those interested in local history. I do know that if anyone tried to get this through the inter-library lending arrangements the library is unlikely to recoup its costs, so Lillabullero is at least subsidising a vital public service by this action. There’s a nice little acknowledgement to Sir Frank Markham at the end.
There is another, later, article from Back Track magazine, Vol 3 No 1, 1989 posted here. It has a bit more focus on the social aspects of the Tramway.
